All words considered part of speech, including English words having a foreign origin are acceptable. However, words that fall into the categories mentioned below may not be played during the game:
- Words starting with a capital letter
- Prefixes and suffixes alone
- Words that require a - or apostrophe
- Proper nouns and names of people / places
Also, do keep in mind that you can choose from the US dictionary or the UK dictionary. Both are almost similar but there are some differences when it comes to 2 letter words. For instance CH is accepted in games using the UK list but not in games using the US list. You can see the dictionary selected before starting or joining a game.
In a game of Lexulous both players get 8 tiles on their 'rack' when a game starts.
As soon as you make a word, your rack is replenished so that you always have 8 tiles. However, there are a total of 89 tiles. When all these tiles have been played on the board, the game ends and the player with the higher score wins. A few conditions for the game to end are:
1. One player finishes all their tiles and not a single tile can be replenished.
2. Players pass or swap tiles 3 times in succession.
3. One of the player resigns the game.
Remember, it's always a good idea to be the first to finish all your tiles! That's because the value of unplayed tiles in your opponent's rack are deducted from their total score and added to your score.
